HI4010-10 is a 10 ppm (mg/L) fluoride standard that is premixed with TISAB II. TISAB II is an ISA solution that is used to fix the activity of the fluoride ions in the solution so that a concentration measurement can be made. The TISAB II also reduces interferences from a low pH and from interfering ions that will complex with fluoride, making it not detectable by the ISE.
This solution is used to calibrate the fluoride solid state ion selective electrode (ISE). Hanna ISE standard solutions are manufactured with high purity chemicals and bottled in our own state-of-the-art facility. ISEs require calibration for accurate readings when performing measurement techniques such as direct measurement and incremental methods. Calibration of up to two points is recommended for enhanced accuracy. Volumetric glassware can be used to make dilutions of standard solutions to bracket the expected concentration of the sample to be measured. ISE calibration standards and sample solutions should always have the same ionic strength.
The HI4010-10 standard comes premixed with TISAB II ionic strength adjuster, so it is ready to use for calibration without any further addition of ISA. Samples that are measured following calibration with the HI4010-10 standard should have the appropriate volume of TISAB II or TISAB III added before measurement with the fluoride ISE.
