The HI779 Pocket Colorimeter from the Pool Line Series is designed to measure pH in swimming pools, hot tubs and spas, on a scale between 6.3 and 8.6 pH. HI779 follows the same principle as chemical test kits and swimming pool litmus papers, but with one key advantage. The value is in fact determined electronically, thanks to a light source and a photodetector, which precisely detect the color produced by the reaction of the sample with phenol red. So you no longer have to guess what color the sample is to determine the pH. The instrument offers extremely greater sensitivity than the human eye and can detect pH values with resolution down to 0.1 pH.
The shape of the tool fits perfectly in the palm and pocket and the large LCD display is easy to read. The automatic shut-off function ensures long battery life.
To take a measurement, fill a cuvette with a water sample, place it in the instrument and zero the Checker®. Next, add the reagent, which will react with the hydrogen ion, causing a color change. Finally, place the vial in the Checker®, press the button and read the results. It’s that easy!
