The HI-93737-03 Silver Reagent is designed for use with the HI97737 portable photometers, as well as the HI83399 multiparameter bench photometer.
Range: 0.000 to 1.000 mg/L
These high-quality reagents are pre-measured to enable fast and accurate colorimetric measurements. The method utilized is an adaptation of the 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) method. When silver reacts with these reagents, an orange tint develops in the sample. By adding the reagents to the sample, a reaction occurs, allowing a compatible benchtop or portable meter to determine the concentration based on the resulting color. The results are displayed in mg/L (ppm) of silver. These reagents are suitable for samples with an expected silver concentration range of 0.000 to 1.000 mg/L.
Tips for Accurate Measurement
- Ensure the sample is free of debris.
- Before placing the cuvette into the measurement cell, make sure the outside is dry and free of fingerprints, oil, or dirt. Wipe it thoroughly with the HI-731318 cloth or a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid shaking the cuvette, as this can create bubbles that lead to higher readings. Remove any bubbles by gently swirling or tapping the cuvette.
- Do not let the reacted sample sit for too long after adding the reagent, as this can affect accuracy.
- Discard the sample immediately after the reading to prevent permanent staining of the glass.
