The HI83748-20 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate colorimetric measurements. These reagents react with the tartaric acid present in wine, causing an orange-red tint in the sample. After the addition of 5 mL of HI83748A-0 to a vial containing the wine sample, the meter is zeroed before six drops of HI83748B-0 are added. A reaction then takes place and the HI83748 photometer can be used to determine the tartaric acid concentration from the color that is produced. The results will be displayed in g/L (ppt). These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected range of 0.0 to 5.0 g/L (ppt) tartaric acid.
